Business Teacher/BPA Advisor

The Benson Business Department offers a variety of classes for those who are interested in pursuing business in the future. All students in grades 8 and 9 are required to take Business Technology 8 and Exploring Computers 9.  These are introductory courses for the electives that students can take in 10-12th grade.

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is the national student organization for students enrolled in business courses. The purposes of the organization are to develop student leadership and competence in business skills and occupations and to promote student ambition for useful purposes. Any student enrolled in a business course is eligible to join BPA.

Regional competition is held in late January; state competition is held in March; national competition is held in late April or early May. Students compete at regional competitions in the areas of finance, business administration, information technology, digital communication and design, management, marketing and communications, and health administration. They advance to state if they place in their contest area.

Benson’s BPA chapter has qualified for national competition for the last 35 years. The 2025 BPA National Leadership Conference will be held in

Orlando, Florida from May 7-11.
